I don't fuckin' believe this

indianwriting: "Marooned without ToI"

Is this where print is headed? Or is someone at the ToI finally going to wake up?

I am angry. I am beyond angry. I am livid. There has to be some reaction from readers. They can't be so brain dead.

Ummm... I'll just say one thing, wake up, smell the coffee or just pop a pill and tune out.

This is not where print is headed, it is already there and beyond it, just that all the trigger-happy 'toi-is-the-bane-of-the-world-kill-it' reactionaries would still like to hold on to their fightfully outraged balls and and pretend that the world is full of people who would like to read a kilometre long treatise on whatever is the latest fancy of the intellectual masturbationists.

Everytime I see something like this, I just wonder what world do these people live in? Media does not any longer report real news, there is no value attached to what actually happened, the value is in how you present it and milk it for your own good. At a meeting with the new boss and ex ND man, I'd told him the same and you should have seen his eyes pop out. I mean, REALLY, which world do all of you guys live in?

Do you think IE and SG had their hearts bleeding when the Gujarat riots were on? Jesus effing christ, I was there in that building when that show was on and I know what happened during edit meets and how reporters were given specific instructions to push for the controversy angle because it makes the paper look good.

And of course, the great commentator on the state of India media, CSF and its great posterboy Fardeu (who incidentally 'joined' DNA thinking it was some sort of step away from the TOI crap hahaha!) has posted about the same, making the outrage now 'official'.

In any case, guess what, the very moneyed brothers don't really give a crap. Millions of idiots still buy what we call crap on a daily basis and also put ads on them, further lining their coffers, the truth, if you can handle it, is that you and I don't count.

And oh, the readers are very brain dead. Just get used to it.

Verily.. I wonder who we write/broadcast for? Ourselves rather than the reader/viewer.

I've quite grown used to seeing it as nothing but a way to earn a living, which is the reason why I've gradually moved away from the journalistic parts of it to more of a managerial role.

Thats why I should soon acquire some brains, dump it all, give my GMAT do an MBA and become (sigh) a marketer. Maybe for Jain&Jain.

K: not a bad idea at all, especially if you are in the game for big money. The amount these geezers make are like really huge.

But J&J Co. is weird place to work in, where you get thrown down if you are too good too; ask someone called Sundar about it :)
