Please grow up...

To,
Some Idiotic Readers
Listen, I'm sick and tired of this 'Daddy' bullshit, I've faced it for eight years and if someone mentions it again I'll probably kill him or her. Do some research into my family history and my angst with my father before you post something like this again. Yes, my father has helped me, that's what they are there to do. But my father has not made me a good or a bad journalist, I've never worked for him, though I have contributed to his institutions. I do call him and meet him occasionally, but I do not have any interest in his businesses, none whatsoever. As for the award, niether of my parents, and as far as journalists go, I think my step-father is a lot more influential than my father, knew I had applied until I told them to land up for the ceremony.
For better or for worse, he is my father. You can't help where you're born and if some of you are jealous about that, I will not explain this again. If you have the balls, please say this in front of me, don't hide behind anonymous comments, because it isn't rocket science to figure who anyone is. I don't want to be modest, but I'm a far better journalist than most. If you know who I am and can't deal with that, don't read the blog. And chill with the threats of 'outing' me, I'll know who did it.
Anyway, all I would request you to do is grow up, you're free to disagree with what I write here, but I don't want any more silly comments about how my father helped me in my career.
Regards
K

I completely agree with your post, even if your father has helped you that's what fathers should be doing. But no father can teach the tricks of any trade if the son is undeserving, the examples could be thousands. (Rohan could not do much in cricket while Abhishek Bachchan took dad's help but then showed that he was worthy of it). Waiting for an HT post from you after all the changes there...

Dunno who u really or ur father since am not a dilliwalla, so this kind of rant is above my head...

The issue isn't that your daddy/stepdaddy has helped you. Sure thats what dads are here for. Especially in India where the likes of Rahul Gandhi and Tusshar Kapoor get by because of their being born in the right families. Why should journalism be any different?
The point is that you use the blog to do a hatchet job against other publications and reflect the point of view of the Times of India, where your stepdaddy apparently works. ...

Long time non-journo reader from Chennai. Your blog is one of my daily fixes. Almost two years back out of curiosity I asked a journo blogger in Chennai about your identity and was given your family details. So it isnt like it is a state secret, and don't let these fools get to you. Keep up the good work

I dont know you, your dad, where you work and I just started reading your blog recently. So my point is... Why get all worked up over blog comments? It's the internet, it's full of trolls.

Post anything on Digg or wherever, and you'll have hate comments over it, even from people you dont know, people who dont know anything about the topic... I mean, it's the internet!

People are assholes, and on the internet they become anonymous assholes!! A potent mix of patheticness.

So yeah.. there'll always be shit to sift through. Ignore and keep posting :)

Hey kid, I don't know who you are and I really don't care. But I like your blog and read it as often as I can, despite my work schedule. And I entirely agree that journalists are born not made. My father was the editor of an underground paper during the freedom movement and for a while during the emergency, in Bihar, until he decided that Mrs G was the best thing to have happened to Indian politics. Never mind that he jumped off Mrs G's bandwagon, when his good friend JP called him! Thank God, I didn't turn out like him!!
As for the HT, I worked for the paper for five years, and let's be honest, it taught me a lot. It taught me about what I should and should not do. I realize that when I talk to students at mass comm institutes, in my city. If there is one thing that totally made me sick was the politics in that place. Even the editors were not averse to crucifying their juniors when it came to saving their butts. I worked for an editor for 4 years in HT, who made politics into an art form! Could have put some of our seasoned politicians to shame! I guess that's why I gave up a two-decade old journalism career and went elsewhere.
Coming back to you, keep it up, you're doing a great job And I'm not just saying this.
