End of INX?

You know I did have plans to leave early today. Get stoned and go to sleep. But it seems that the INX war is over - the Mukerjea's have lost everything. Their reputation is in shreds. I wonder if the Audi TT that IM bought will remain with her. But the Bongs are having a hard time in Bombay it seems - first Kunal Dasgupta gets turfed out (and almost 50 people, all of Dasgupta's chelas have been booted out as well, in this an extremely horrible market for jobs) and then Peter is left with nothing on his shirt. Though, the irony is that the Bong who was turfed out first is the one coming back to right the INX ship, but as they say in Bangla, "Dhongsho Hoye Gache", I don't think there is much to save. I know some media reporters drank the Mukerjea Kool-Aid as did the WSJ (most powerful women in India - Please!), and this blog was always on the ball. This is just the beginning of the end, at least one or two more media bosses might see it all fritter away. The thing is that with the chaos and the bad blood that ensued following the NewsX fiasco a year ago, you can't really wish them very well either.

Nothing wrong with the Bongs, buddy. They are doing well, and are welcome. The problem is with those -- and this doesn't apply to Bongs only -- who screw around with the organisations. Loot the organisations. The people you write about may have done great work in the past, but in recent times they went berserk. Some of their acts could even put those of the bros from Charminar city.

Am sure with the money they have, They will still continue driving the Audi, the channel will still be on air, looser journalists will keep writing, life goes on, business goes on.

Indrani and Peter must be leaving INX with more their shirts. To begin with both of them must have been getting exceptionally large salaries for doing nothing but working towards the overall INX disaster.

Second, any reasonable audit of investor funds would reveal huge amounts of over-invoiced spending or monies disappearing in black holes -- where kickbacks are the natural corollary.

Overall, the Mukherjees and their flunkeys in the core team would have definitely be wealthier by a few crores by now.

There is another sad dimension to the affair. The professional and personal conduct of the Mukherjees is so much at fault, that all their erstwhile opponents at NewsX appear cast in a glow of competence and innocence. In actuality, the entire NewsX operation was led by players who knew only to make a game for themselves. It takes more than the Mukherjees to create such a basket case.

Just to clarify I'm Bengali myself just in case you didn't get that. Also I didn't for a minute defend Kaku, Avirook and their ilk. Some of the people that came with The V have yet to find jobs despite being fired in early 2008, you know 'media boom' et al. There has to be a reason for that beyond backbiting and bitchiness. Let's see - they sucked and believe me I'm no fan of them or their intelligence.

K,
Good point, We wonder why they still have not found decent jobs, snakeman, avirook and thier loyalists, all jobless. I surely have one big doubt in my mind now, were they wrong hires for NewsX?????? Bongs still and will always continue dominating the media industry. after all they are the "creative" lot....ahem !!!!!

arup and his hindi cronies are solely responsible for the downfall of newsx. big buffoon rajnish whose mouth also smells, an illiterate moron and vishal the man placed on a pedestal and who has been making money should be kicked out first.

Is the problem with the Mukherjeas? Or is it with the V? How come virually every venture he has been associated with has shut down or gone to seed? Imprint, Bombay, Sunday, NewsX?
HT survives but, if you look at the bottomlines, barely.
