US acquisition
The rumour mills are abuzz with the news that one of India's largest media houses is looking at acquiring a chain of US publications. The Boss is currently in the US finalising the deal and is accompanied by a host of i-Bankers. We have had imports come to India and not exactly being successful running newspapers, I wonder if we will soon start exporting journalists - not the types who run away to do Fellowships - but 'on-site' guys - you know the thing that the IT companies call 'onshoring' telling the Yanks on how to run a newspaper. Dangerous turf the US - Murdoch country!

First lesson to Murdoch, don't be so damn blatant in your political leanings.
I was in pakistan post september 11th, and we were glued to Sky and Fox to get the latest. I think one of the most brilliant examples of irresponsible journalism was having some country singer performing "Osama, yo mama" on (inter)national, television. Oh, they had it coming, and they've got it coming again if that's what they're going to show.
See, Fox has its viewership, much like 'Saamna' in Maharashtra has its readership. Hindi TV channels on the other hand all have one leaning - Rakhi Sawant. Or sex... but that is another story. The reason I like ToI is because it is possibly the most nuetral paper there is in the country right now..
But it's so obsessed with chola waalas making it big through political connections and gruesome murders that one really doesn't feel like picking it up and really going through it sometimes.
I think the Ashok Malhotra story is fascinating. I wonder why they suddenly started going after him...
