More Sorries!

If you have ever had a significant other, the term 'sorry' becomes a permanent part of your vocubulary. However, I have been travelling out, first on an office trip and now on vacation since I don't wish to donate my LTA into the government's coffers. Having faced the might of India's bureaucratic engine today morning when I went to get an International Driving Permit - if you want a taste of purgatory I would suggest a visit to the zonal transport department office in Sheikh Sarai. But enough whining, I have a bunch of things to finish writing and photos to file before I head off again, this time to the Scottish Highlands. I'll try and update whenever possible.
It has been good to be forcefully weaned off desi news, I got regular YSR updates on Twitter - what was really weird was how the obits started coming before people knew the chopper had crashed. That said, the entire episode makes you wonder how many more 'Heart of Darkness' areas we still have in India? Anyway, till later...

Actually, for England, your desi driving licence would have done just as well, just remember to ensure your insurance is perfectly in order. And as for Sheikh Sarai RTO, why not take and post photos? There's also a car-fender-bender scam in the parking lot there, aimed at women coming for licence work getting involved in scraps with the local young studs - had great fun sorting them out a few years ago. But they bounce back, and when I went there a few months ago, the same guys recognised me and saluted me.

This is nothing that you have faced. It took me 3 years to receive my passport which hardly takes 3 months.

Which world do you faux, mutated Brits come from? My licence renewal took precisely 2 hours, and despite being warned that nothing would move without touts and bribes, it was really smooth. Yes, you DO need to read badly painted and gramatically screwed up signages which give you the step by step process... Guys, get off berating everything govt. Or shall we say, get a wee bit less Stephanian about things ;)
